Text: Fundamentals of Complex Analysis with Applications to Engineering, Science, and Mathematics, 3rd Edition, Edward B. Saff, Arthur D. Snider, Published by Prentice Hall, ISBN: 0139078746
Topics to be covered: Chapter 1 through Chapter 6; Complex Numbers, Analytic Functions, Elementary Functions, Complex Integration, Series Representations for Analytic Functions, and Residue Theory.
Assignments: I’ll assign Homework either weekly or biweekly. Homework helps you understand / assimilate the class and are necessary to achieve good performances. I will use some of the homework problems in the exams.
Tests: One midterm and a Final Exam
Extra Credits: If you regularly attend the each class, I'll give some bonus points (up to 3%) at the end of the semester.
Make-up Policy: No make-up exam, except in extreme cases (serious illness, death of an immediate family member or university sponsored activities). If you must miss an exam, you should notify me before the exam take place and provide legitimate proof.
No Cell Phone Policy: In the lecture or exam time, cell phone is NOT allowed. Please keep your cell phone in silent. You are NOT allowed to answer your cell phone in the class or go out of class to answer your cell phone either.
Note: E-mail distribution will be used for informal communication only. Official announcements about tests or change of class schedule will be provided during the class time, but will not be given by e-mail.
Grading: Attendance (10%), Homework (30%), a Midterm (30%) and a Final Exam(30%).
